Inner Writing
About
This is a place where my writing can be stored and shared online. It is a mixture of my own poetry, short stories, articles, prayers and reflections. It would be fantastic if you would write to me, responding to what you have read.
Much of this writing focuses on the inner life and particularly the inner life of men, but not exclusively so. I’m interested in what gives men joy, pain, fulfilment, wonder and how we best respond to these things through spirituality and and the inner life of the Spirit.

I am trying to be a Christian. Although I am an ordained Church of England priest I am on the edges of the church and struggle with dogma, institutions and ‘priests in black gowns walking their rounds’*.
I’m finding the ancient Christian wisdom and mystical ways of faith nourishing. So silence, darkness, waiting, longing are all important.
Up until 2024 I was a Chaplain at a large London prison and am now training to be a professional coach affiliated to the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and the International Coaching Federation. Alongside Inner Writing I hope to develop Inner Coaching and resume the Inner Man Programme.
